About the Scholarship

The Nagoya International Scholarship is a $4,000 scholarship that recognizes campus and community engagement among international students and scholars from a diverse set of cultures. The amount is distributed $2,000  per semester over Fall and Spring. The Scholarship recipients represent outstanding community contributors who have strong academic performance with a goal of promoting engagement in co-curricular activities during their time at the University of Utah. These people are leaders within the international community who go above and beyond to help out their fellow students and help to create the kind of welcoming environment we strive for at ISSS and the University of Utah.

Origins of the Nagoya  Scholarship

In 1992, the Nagoya Broadcasting Network Co. generously established a scholarship fund with the University of Utah. The idea was to help students explore the world and create a generation with more international perspective and global understanding. Over the years, the money has helped students participate in service projects around the world, uplifting communities in need and develop long lasting cultural bonds. These first students helped establish the foundations of the international community we enjoy today. Now, the ISSS uses this scholarship to reward those who bring that same spirit of promoting global interconnectedness to our campus and beyond. Building bridges, supporting fellow students, and encouraging the inner explorer in all of us.
