Our Mission 
The International Student Association (ISA) serves as the official representative organization for international students at the University of Utah.
ISA exists to support, advocate for, connect, and empower international students while fostering intercultural understanding, leadership development, academic success, and global engagement across campus and the broader community.
Our Vision
ISA envisions a University of Utah community where every international student feels welcomed, supported, represented, and empowered to achieve academic, personal, professional, and leadership success.
What We Do
ISA advocates for the interests of international students while fostering a welcoming, inclusive, and globally connected campus community. Through educational, social, professional, and cultural programs, ISA promotes cultural exchange, global awareness, and the celebration of diverse traditions. ISA supports the successful transition, well-being, and overall success of international students by creating opportunities for mentorship, peer support, leadership development, networking, civic engagement, and campus involvement. In collaboration with international student organizations, campus departments, and University administration, ISA serves as a bridge between international students and the University, amplifying student voices and advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and unity among students from all cultures and backgrounds.

How You Can Get Involved

The ISA Executive Board is made up of both international and domestic students at the U. We are always looking for motivated and passionate ISA board members. If you are interested in applying for one of these positions, please do so here.

Responsibilities of the ISA President:
- Serve as the chief executive officer of ISA
- Preside over meetings
- Establish organizational goals and strategic priorities
- Serve as official spokesperson for ISA
- Represent ISA before the University leadership
- Maintain relationships with ISSS, ASUU, and SLI
- Recruit and onboard officers
- Delegate responsibilities
- Resolve internal conflicts
- Monitor organizational performance
- Assist with budget preparation
- Approve official communications
- Ensure constitutional compliance
- Coordinate annual planning initiatives

- Organize an annual International Organizations Leadership Summit

Himesh Raj

Program of Study: Biomedical Engineering
Introduction:
Hey Everyone!! My name is Himesh Raj and I am a sophomore from Pakistan majoring in Biomedical Engineering. I love playing and watching sports especially Basketball and Soccer. I am excited to be part of ISA, here at the U as I am motivated to take every international student life here at the U to the next level. Go Utes!!
What advice would you give to an international student, either incoming or current?
My advice would be to join clubs and make friends early on.
Heonju (Nathan) Lee
Where is Home: South Korea
Program of Study: Accounting and Information Systems
Introduction:
Hello, my name is Nathan Lee, I am a student here at the U, majoring in Accounting and Information Systems, with a strong interest in leadership, financial responsibility, and student engagement. I serve in executive board roles as Treasurer and Marketing Director, where I help manage budgets, support organizational planning, and promote events and initiatives to strengthen student involvement. I have lived in the US for over 10 years and have faced many of the challenges that international students may experience. If you need help, don't hesitate to ask for it. The university offers a variety of resources and support services to help students succeed and overcome challenges.

Aaditya Swami

Program of Study: Computer Science
Introduction:
Hi everyone, my name is Aaditya! I am a Computer Science student at the University of Utah and originally from India. I enjoy playing cricket and basketball, exploring new places, watching movies, and spending time with friends. As Vice President of ISA, I look forward to supporting international students and helping create a welcoming and engaging community on campus. A fun fact about me is I love late-night drives and road trips!
What advice would you give to an international student, either incoming or current?
My advice to new international students is to get involved on campus, ask questions when you need help, and step out of your comfort zone. Building friendships, joining student organizations, and connecting with professors can make your transition much easier. Remember that adjusting to a new country takes time, so be patient with yourself, stay open to new experiences, and make the most of the opportunities available to you.
Izzy Teixeira

Program of Study: Master's in Information Systems
Introduction:
Hi everyone! I'm Izzy Teixeira, and I'm currently pursuing a master's degree in Information Systems after earning bachelor's degrees in Psychology and Criminology. In my free time, I enjoy playing tennis, watching TV shows, spending time with friends, and creating graphic designs. I'm excited to support international students and help create a welcoming, safe, and informative environment where everyone feels connected and has access to valuable resources.
What advice would you give to an international student, either incoming or current?
Stay as involved as you can. Join clubs and organizations, attend campus events, and, if possible, get a job on campus. These experiences are a great way to meet new people, build friendships, and feel more connected to the community. Don't be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone and try new things. Your college experience is what you make of it.
